This Margarita Mocktail recipe with no alcohol is light, fresh and bright with fresh citrus. The syrup gives the popular golden color in this virgin margarita.
This non-alcoholic margarita will be perfect for lunch or dinner, any time of day. It can be enjoyed by all ages and will be the perfect addition to your summer, but especially for Cinco de Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo Recipes
If you’re planning a summer cookout or something for Cinco de Mayo, these fresh margaritas will be perfect.
You can plan out your entire meal with Roasted Pineapple Tomatillo Salsa, Spanish Rice, Shredded Beef Green Chiles Enchiladas and Mexican Rice Pudding for dessert.
Using fresh citrus is important for a great tasting virgin margarita. If you’re unable to get fresh produce, you can use juice instead.
Each lime should produce about 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed juice. An orange will produce about 4-5 tablespoons.

Liquid Cane Sugar
I’ve used “Sugar in the Raw” brand liquid cane sugar. The purpose of using the liquid is to avoid grains of sugar. Margaritas aren’t all that great with what amounts to little pieces of sand.
If you’re unable to find the liquid sugar, I found a recipe for liquid cane sugar by Kristin at Sweet Steep.
You could make your own simple syrup, if you like. Regular simple syrup will be clear instead of the darker, more molasses color.
Heat equal parts of sugar and water, stirring frequently, until all the sugar is dissolved. Chill until cooled. Refrigerate all leftover syrup.
Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice
This is a great addition with intense lime flavor. You may find it in the cocktail mixer section of the store.
If you’re unable to find it, you could make it yourself, but be sure to make it ahead of time. I found this recipe for homemade lime cordial (aka Sweetened Lime Juice) at Jeffrey Morgenthaler.

- 2 Limes, juice only (about 4 tablespoons)
- 1 Orange, juice only (about 4-5 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons Sugar in the Raw Cane Sugar Liquid
- 2 tablespoons Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice
- ⅔ cup Club Soda
- ½ cup Ice
- Medium Course Salt
- Limes or Oranges for garnish
- To a large (about 1 quart) cup or jar, add all ingredients.
- Stir with long handled spoon.
- Pour 2-3 teaspoons salt into a small plate. Using the lime, rub onto the rim of two glasses then dip in salt.
- Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain into salted glasses.
- Add additional ice to glasses, if desired.

What a fantastic recipe! We entertain a lot and we often have cocktails, especially in the summer. The kids are always complaining that they don’t get special treatment so mocktails are always on the go and I’m always looking for ideas.
